Gilles Sandras is behind the creation of BOUDAMOUR ™ and the managing director of the brand and its parent company SHK, a wholesale and manufacturing services company specialized in pearl mountings jewellery and related products for professionals.
Gilles's outsourcing experience with global clients and his search for creative designs for his jewellery business inspired him to create Boudamour to overcome some of the challenges and limitations of pearl jewellery manufacturing that he encountered during his career.Whether it was to assemble jewellery on the move, reuse assembled parts, reduce production costs or enable easier and faster new design developments and a higher degree of interchangeability between collections, Gilles recognized that there was an opportunity to develop an adaptable pearl jewellery concept that could enhance and support both customer and retailer interaction in the increasingly individualized and modular nature of today's jewellery design. Gilles, who promoted the company's spirit and commitment to quality in partnership with selected factories and people from fascinating and diverse backgrounds, created a close kinship: one with the spirit of innovation that initially shaped Boudamour and continues to drive it today.
The Boudamour name is a play on words resulting from a a visit to the Buddha statue in Hong Kong when the word "bout d'amour" came to Gilles mind to address his friend walking towards him. In French 'Boudamour' literally means "a piece of love". A few months later while working on a pearls jewellery concept and a name for it, Gilles took his guarded pun and named his brand Boudamour.
Inspired by silver charms and glass beads jewellery he realized that no one offered real-pearls charm. It took Gilles a year and half to perfect the project, embarking his small enterprise on the long and rough road of product development to find the delicate drilling technique, to fit the different shapes and multi-sized pearls with a single size core and to come up with the exclusive fitting systems and trendy jewellery designs that make up the collection. Challenge accomplished as Boudamour has been successfully launched in French Polynesia since.
In its first development phase, the success of its commercialization in Tahiti has been overwhelming and a good motivational factor to now enter a new phase and lead the brand into global markets primarily through e-commerce.

SHK is the owner of the Boudamour brand. SHK was founded in Hong Kong in 2008 by Gilles Sandras as a wholesaler of pearl settings with the aim of offering jewellers the highest quality settings with the most exclusive designs.In 2014, SHK entered a new era, experimenting with a distinctive line of pearl jewellery based on the concept of adaptability, with specially crafted Tahitian pearls and proprietary systems to mount these pearls.

In view of the success of its innovative product venture, the company created its own brand called Boudamour and launched it in 2015 through selected points of sales in Tahiti.
